Wall Graphics On Board at The Pines
When coming up with creative way-finding solutions that are unique and engaging, we went full steam ahead with this project for The Pines.
The Pines recently recruited The Media Collective to liven up the various walls and corridors of their school.
This was a fun project for us, which included several vinyl wall graphics in different areas - we particularly love this clever way-finding solution in the style of a train line.
A full scale ‘Family Tree’ was created for the Early Years department.
This is a great way to create a point of interest, and to see which little ones are part of their community.
Using clear pockets within the leaves of the tree, the staff are able to switch out photos as new students join.
We think this a great way to create a sense of belonging, as students are able to see themselves and their friends, and are reminded that they belong - a big deal for a small person in a big world!
In the sensory room, we used simple colours and uncomplicated graphics which are both informative and engaging.
The inclusion of sensory terminology helps to educate those who may not be familiar with the sensory play and stimulation requirements for children with varying neurodivergencies, as well as aid in normalising the described behaviours.
By keeping the colour palette and imagery simple, it can help to prevent over-stimulation in children that may be using the rooms as a means of calming down during a time when they are experiencing sensory overload.
Overall, this project was a delightful one which allowed us to create informative wall graphics and engaging displays that create meaningful impact, whilst also giving us an opportunity to work with well-known and loved book elements from the likes of We're Going on a Bear Hunt, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.
We would love to hear from you if you believe we could create a similar impact within your school.
